Don’t Go Chasing Waterfalls

June 11, 2014

Anyone?   Whatever, you know you love it.

Yesterday, we headed out on another morning hike—are you noticing a trend?  The mornings are for hiking…and the afternoons are for napping. Winking smile

We decided to hike to Long Creek Falls, which is supposed to be one of the more popular waterfalls in the area.  For a popular waterfall, I have to say—it was a little hard to find.  The trees on the hiking trail were literally eating the signage:

…but finally we stumbled into the sign we were looking for:

Once we found the actual waterfall trail, the hike was pretty easy.  So easy that Lila did a large chunk of it out of the backpack:

It *did* get a little precarious around the actual descent down to the falls, so Ryan ended up carrying her during that part.  But it was worth it—the falls were beautiful, and we had the view all to ourselves!

I did my best Dirty Dancing log-dancing impression:

…and then we were on our way back home.

After an afternoon of very little napping and some swimming, we were ready for a quick, simple dinner.  We picked up some veggies at the store (kale, cherry tomatoes, onion, garlic):

…and sauteed them in a good bit of olive oil.  Tossed it with hot linguine and chunks of feta.  Yum!

This balances out those burgers we had on Tuesday night, right?

Have a great day!
