Kale Summer Salad (and weekend pics)
This weekend, the cooler weather continued. It was actually nice on Friday—temps probably in the seventies? But on Saturday and Sunday, it rained HARD both mornings!
Friday night, we had our friend Chad over for dinner. Well, really we just wanted to meet his new rescue dog. A dinner invitation was the quickest way to make that happen.
Sweet girl! Our dogs did really well with her, and Rocket got to show off her speed as they played and chased balls around the backyard before dinner.
For dinner, we grilled chicken, shrimp and vegetables. I also put together this kale salad:
Raw kale, topped with just-cooked asparagus, farmers’ market strawberries, blue cheese, and bourbon brown sugar pecans from Fresh Market. Yum!
Lila helped me prep the vegetables for grilling:
I promise, I’m not going to stab you. I just want to hold it for a second.
…which really just meant that she continually tried to grab the knife away.
On Saturday, RAIN meant that we were spending the morning inside…which meant that it was finally time to break out the big guns: Frozen.
Despite being obsessed with “Let It Go” and Elsa, Lila had not yet actually seen the movie. So on Saturday, we cuddled up on the couch and learned what all the fuss has been about. It is pretty cute. Of course, now she’s obsessed more than ever and insists that we have a “Let It Go” singalong/dance party every night after dinner:

I’m trying, but Lila obviously has the better moves. And yes, she is wearing an Elsa t-shirt.
Other than that, it was a nice, quiet weekend. We went to a birthday party on Saturday afternoon, church on Sunday, and finished off True Detective last night—SO good.
