A Blog Post!
You know that friend you have that you really, really, really LIKE…but things happen, life gets busy, and before you know it, you haven’t talked to her in two weeks, and then two weeks turns into two months, and then suddenly it’s been a year and you WANT to call her, but now it’s been so long since you’ve talked, things would just be awkward, so you keep putting it off even MORE?
Yeah, blogging is kind of like that.
In other words: sorry it’s been a while. Meh, as my students like to say, “Sorry I’m not sorry.” I’m not sorry because we’ve been having a lot of fun. (And yes, they really do say that. To me. About assignments. I’m so glad it’s summer.)
I headed to Charleston a couple of weeks ago for a bachelorette party celebrating my dear college friend, Sarah. We went to college in Charleston, so it was a big ol’ trip down memory lane for a lot of us:
This is us in front of our old house. The house is now on the market—just 1.7 million dollars, if anyone is interested. Sidenote: I’m pretty sure that wine cellar wasn’t there when we were living in the house.
After returning home from Charleston, I turned right back around and headed out of town again—Ryan, Lila and I drove down to Gulf Shores to attend the wedding of one of our good friends from grad school. Ryan was in the wedding, so Lila and I got to spend a lot of time exploring Gulf Shores on our own—she really liked the zoo!
I got in a good run:
I think the possibility that an alligator could be behind any bend in the road really did make me run faster.
We had a lot of fun on the beach in Gulf Shores:
…but hands down, Lila’s favorite part of the whole trip was the wedding. She was cracking us up with her dance moves ALL night. I was a little worried, because it went pretty late—we left around 9:30, and her bedtime is usually 7-7:30. But she did great—girl was living it up on the dance floor:
We came back on Sunday, and we’ve just been settling back in. Lila had her “show day” at the Little Gym yesterday:
Doesn’t she look old here?!? I can’t get over it.
She also stopped in the middle of our walk last night to do a quick down dog:
I love this kid.
Other than that, we’ve been…grading, potty-training, working out, going to music class, cooking, eating…embracing the start of summer!
Oh, and we’ve been watching a LOT of “Let It Go.” Tell me this video doesn’t make your morning a little brighter:
Hope your May is going well!
