Getting Back Into the Swing of Things

January 15, 2014

Hi friends!  This has been our first full week back at school, and we’re (wait for it…) getting back into the swing of things.

As always, Mondays are my long days—I teach from 9:00 to 12:30, and then again from 5:30 to 8:20.  It’s a long day, I’m not going to lie.  It’s also hard, because I come home around 2:00, and need to head back up to school by about 4:30.  For those two and a half hours, I REALLY want to spend all of the time with Lila that I can.  But, it’s important for me to rest a little so that I feel refreshed and ready to take on that last class of the day—I owe it to my students to be energized for that 5:30 class, and if I go straight from teaching to being with Lila to right back to teaching, I feel really wiped.  On Monday, I hung out with her from about 2-3:30, and then Ryan took her to run some errands and go to the gym.  After they left, I took a little cat nap which really refreshed me for the 5:30 class.

It kills me that I get to see her so little on Mondays, but at the same time, I’d rather have one really long day if it means having a pretty good schedule for the rest of the week.

Anyway, it always just takes a little bit of time to get back into the rhythm of the semester.

We’ve been enjoying beautiful weather here:

(Playing on the seesaw is quite the butt workout! )

…which we’ve been trying to take full advantage of.  Afternoons at the park are a must in January, when getting out of the house can be difficult some days.  If the sun is out, so are we!

Photo: Seesaw love.

We’ve been eating good food, too.  And actually cooking a lot! Homemade pizza over the weekend:

Plus delicious homemade enchiladas that Ryan surprised me with last night:

Yum!

Hope you’re having a good week! Off to binge on a little Breaking Bad. Winking smile

Spring-like weather this time of year always feels so refreshing. Now it’s cold again though. Glad you’re getting back into the swing of things 😉

Lovely woman, thank you for inspiring me to get back into teaching. I start on Monday and I’m nervous and excited. Balancing it all will be a challenge, but I know it will bring much joy and fulfillment to my weeks. Thank you for sharing all that you do! And that pizza looks SO GOOD!
