Weekend Catch-Up

March 17, 2013

Hi friends! Hope you’ve had a great St. Patty’s Day weekend.  We’ve been enjoying BEAUTIFUL weather all weekend long, so yesterday, we spread out a blanket in the backyard and soaked up the sun:

Well, Lila, the pets and I soaked up the sun—Ryan did yard work.  Has to earn his keep, right?

Tenny was especially loving the sun:

After a lovely afternoon in the yard, we headed out for a dinner at a local Mexican restaurant with friends.  The restaurant is right by our new house, so we stopped off there first to give our friends the tour.  Lila practiced her walking skills in our new front yard:

Obviously I’m just posting this photo to show off her cute outfit.  But come on—isn’t it adorable?

We stayed out a little past Lila’s bedtime, so she went to bed later than usual, and blessed us this morning with a 7 AM wakeup call—bliss!  She’s usually up and at ‘em by 6:30 at the latest, so 7 felt mighty nice.

She’s napping right now, which gave me the perfect opportunity to try out a new product that I bought on Amazon last week: Squooshi reusable packs. (I didn’t receive these for free or anything—bought them myself, right on Amazon.  Winking smile ).

Lila LOVES the ubiquitous pureed fruit and veggie packets that seem to be everywhere these days.  When she was first starting to eat real food, she’d eat about a packet a day, so the cost was pretty small.  But these days, she can easily blow through two or three a day (probably two or three in one sitting, if I gave them to her, ha), and the cost has really started to add up.  I bought these reusable packets in an effort to make the packet snacks at least a little more cost-friendly.  A pack of four cost twenty bucks, so depending on how long they last, they should be much more cost-efficient.  Plus, I like being able to control exactly what goes into each packet.  This morning, I made a mix of:

…two bananas, two cups of spinach, and a cup of frozen blueberries, pureed in the Vitamix until smooth.  This filled the four packets perfectly:

I put one in the refrigerator, and froze the other three for future use. So easy!

Hope you have a great Sunday! I need to do a little grading, and hopefully I’ll get to hit up a yoga class later this afternoon.  See ya!

Very jealous of your beautiful weather! (Remind me why I live in Boston?!) Also, Lila’s dress is adorable – it matches our nursery 🙂

I love the idea of the reusable packets! So cute. I will have to pick some up and make a batch of applesauce for Kay. Her outfit rocks. Love

That is a darling outfit (almost as cute as that kung fu bunny/lounging pajama ensemble we tried on her : ) ) Glad your reusable packets worked so well – those are really neat!
