Seattle Christmas: A Recap!

December 20, 2012

In general, I don’t miss blogging twice a day.  I feel that way especially when we travel—it’s nice to just let go and enjoy the trip, instead of trying to document every lunch and dinner (and whatever in between).

However, I DO miss reading those posts! I like being able to look back and see what we had for lunch and dinner in Split, Croatia on June 13th, 2010 (a picnic in the park, and then a seafood feast for dinner, if you were wondering).

But blogging twice a day while we travel is kind of a long shot right now.  So instead, I’ll just recap our trip in one long post.  Just as much fun, right? Winking smile

Our Seattle trip was a great one—not the best weather, but we know enough about the Pacific Northwest to not be surprised by rain and gray skies in December, ha.

Actually, the first day we were there, the sun broke through! We met up with my bff Mary Margaret—it was her first time meeting Lila (out of the womb, that is).

We went to a delicious vegan restaurant (Thrive), and then spent the afternoon walking around beautiful Magnuson Park.

So much fun! And Lila loved meeting this Marge that she’d heard so much about.

As for the rest of the trip…gray skies and rain (and even a little snow) prevailed.  We spent most of our time indoors, enjoying time with Ryan’s family, and especially enjoying watching Lila get to know her two Seattle cousins, Carson and Benjamin:

Lila LOVES older kids, and was fascinated by both of the boys.  We don’t get out to Seattle more than once or twice a year, but we try to really make our time out there count.

Lila also had her very first Christmas!  Ten days early, but who’s counting? Winking smile

She had more fun chewing on the plastic that the gifts came in:

(too much eggnog)

…than playing with the gifts themselves.  Oh well.  Whatever makes her happy.

It was a great trip!

Unfortunately, the trip back was NOT so great—we had a 4.5 hour flight from Seattle to Atlanta, and Lila was awake and fussing for most of the trip.  To make matters worse, she came down with a cold a few days ago, so we took her to the doctor this morning, and sure enough, she’s got an ear infection. We’ve got her on medicine, so hopefully it will clear up soon.  It better, because tomorrow…we’re off to Louisiana!

Yes, we’re traveling fools.  Emphasis on the “fools.”

But there’s no place like home for the holidays, right?  We’ve hit up one home…on to the next!

Hope you’re having a great…what day is it?  Hope you’re having a great whatever day it is!!

(I wish I were kidding…seriously, what day is it?)

I SO feel for you. Kaylin has had like 10 ear infections and now has tubes (at last). She is so darn cute! You have the best clothes for her. Glad it was fun

I’m so glad you guys got to get out there and see that side of the family! Sounds like some great family time. Sorry Lila got sick. That makes for an awful end of the trip! Hopefully she is getting better and gearing up for the next leg of the holiday festivities! Hopefully you and Ryan can find some good wine at the end of the next flight too…or maybe start drinking now and it won’t matter.

      Hahaha…we’ll be drinking wine 24/7 until January 1st, I believe. 🙂

Love the recap in photos. I think that says so much more sometimes. Glad you guys had a good time but I sure hope that kiddo feels better soon.

The picture of you and Lila by the tree is just too sweet 🙂 (Though I’m also a fan of the drunk baby pics.)
