Twas the night before the night before Thanksgiving
Which would make it…Tuesday!
We drove ALL DAY. Actually, not all day. The drive from Huntsville to Shreveport takes almost exactly eight hours (actually, a little less if you do as we do and pack a lunch and keep stops to a major minimum). Lila did great—slept for probably seven hours out of the eight!
When we pulled into the driveway, we were ALL ready to stretch our legs—it was a long car ride with a baby, two dogs, and a cat!
Katherine, Kevin, and Sophie joined us for dinner, and Lila and Sophie spent tons of time playing with each other. It was really cute. This is the first time we’ve really seen them interacting a lot—Lila couldn’t get enough of her cousin Sophie!
After lots of floorplay, we all sat down to dinner—a Thanksgiving tradition: gumbo. We’ve had gumbo on the night before (or the night before the night before) Thanksgiving for many years—like here, and here.
Last night, the tradition continued:
Mmmmm hmm. Makes me glad we’re only eating vegetarian part-time.
This morning, we balanced tradition with a very exciting first: Lila’s first haircut! Her hair has gotten a little out of control in the back lately (I know, I know—she’s not even eight months old!), so we made an appointment to get her mullet taken care of.
My mom’s hairdresser Lowell took very good care of her:
…and before we knew it, the mullet was gone!
We’re doing Thanksgiving prep over here this afternoon. Hope you have a great Holiday!
