Fall Friday

November 10, 2012

Yesterday was a pretty perfect fall day.  Our weather has been awesome lately—60’s and 70’s, and tons of sun.  I always loved the fall in Pennsylvania, but one thing that I hated was how EARLY winter seemed to come—both years we lived there, it snowed on or before Halloween!  Nooooo thank you!

We’ve been soaking up the best of the fall weather here in Alabama.  Yesterday, after we both got home from work, we took Lila on an afternoon stroll:

…and admired the beautiful trees in our neighborhood:

So pretty! We were going to take her to the park to swing…but she ended up sleeping through the whole walk!

When we got home, she was ready to play.  She’s been seriously into pulling up and standing lately, so we’ve purchased a few new toys that are helping her to really develop that skill:

For dinner, we wanted something warm and fall-like, so I made a BIG pot of vegetable soup.  Vegetable soup is so easy to make—you just throw in whatever you want! For ours, I sauteed some onions and garlic, and then into the pot went: broccoli, peas, carrots, corn, butter beans, zucchini, canned tomatoes, veggie broth, barley, and herbes de provence.  Thirty minutes of simmering later…

We had soup! Super easy, super healthy.

We enjoyed the soup while catching up on Nashville on our DVR—ummmm, is anyone else watching this show?? I love it!!

Off to enjoy our Saturday!

When my niece was little she would love to look at trees like you posted and she was so cute because she’d scream fire at them (apparently that was her word for orange) thanks for reminding me of that
