La Vache Qui Rit

Hello, hello!

Our trip continued on yesterday with a two hour drive to Semur, where we were greeted by…my parents! We arrived right at lunchtime, so we sat down to a great lunch, French-style (re: with lots of cheese and wine):

Lunch included leftover pizza from a local pizzeria:

…and a simple salad with four different cheese samples:

…plus some rose wine to round it all out!

After lunch, we took a long stroll around town—Semur is really cute! The house that we’re staying at is right along a canal that runs all the way around town.  Like all great French towns, Semur has beautiful stone buildings, a great old church, and lovely countryside to explore.  While we were exploring said countryside, we ran into some real characters:

What are you looking at?

After our long walk, we did some relaxing at the house and then stopped by the supermarche to pick up supplies for a nice home-cooked meal:

Mmmmmm…this dinner was so good! My mom made this onion pie just all on her own—no recipe or anything! I guess you can’t go wrong with sauteed onion, cheese, and lots of butter!

The fish was great too—a basic white fish, topped with pesto and a tomato slice:

Plus white asparagus, which we keep seeing everywhere here!

Topped off with a little French chocolate, this really was the perfect meal.  After dinner, we took one more stroll around town for good measure.

Today, we’re going to explore a nearby canal walk.  We had a crazy thunderstorm last night, so today is much cooler…I hope it warms up a little!!

Au revoir!
