Sun Worshipper

March 9, 2011

Hey there, friends! Yesterday, we ventured about 45 minutes out of Key West to visit what has been named one of the best beaches in America—Bahia Honda.  We weren’t disappointed—it was beautiful!!!

Here are some beach highlights:

We got back mid-afternoon and rested for a few hours, and then we headed over to La Concha hotel.  This hotel is the tallest building in Key West, and is, therefore, a great place to watch the sunset with a drink!

We took bets on when the sun would actually set—I overshot by a long shot! Whoops!

After our lovely sunset drinks, we headed over to a Cuban restaurant for Jon and Emily’s last meal—sigh.

Mmmm…this Cuban food was delicious! Beans, rice, Cuban bread, plantains, mojitos…yum!!!

Jon and Emily just left to catch their flight back to Richmond—we’re going to miss them!!! :-(  But—luckily, we still have three more days here ourselves…it’s snowing in Altoona right now, so we’re happy to stay down here in the sun for a little bit longer!

We’re headed out to explore the island by foot this morning—I’ll have my camera in tow!

Hope you’re having a great week! Happy Wednesday!

It is literally pouring here right now. The rain sounds pretty, but I wish I was getting all the vitamin D you are getting today! Sorry your friends are gone, but I am sure you two kids will find something to do to entertain yourselves. Enjoy the sun Anna!

OMG, that water is so blue!!! I would kill for some good Cuban food right now, I grew up in South Florida and the crap they serve in Charlotte just doesn’t compare….
