Clean Out Da Fridge

March 4, 2011

Cleaning out da fridge is an impressive dance move you can do to amaze your friends when you go out on the town.

It’s also what we did last night with our produce drawer.

We’re leaving this morning for spring break in Key West (!!!!!!!), so last night, we tried our hardest to use up all of the produce we had still hanging around in the fridge.  We ended up with a plate of roasted veggies, kale chips, and sauteed cabbage and peas, all topped off with…humnut sauce!!!!

This sauce has been making the rounds in blog world for months now, and I finally wised up and tried it last night.

Holy mouth party! This sauce is SO good, and could not be easier.  I just combined a big glob of Sabra hummus (the best) with about 1/4 cup of nutritional yeast and enough water to thin it out into a sauce.

I could see this sauce being addicting.

We definitely got our necessary servings of veggies in!

So, today we’re driving down to Washingto DC, and tomorrow we fly out of DC for Key West.  See ya from the capitol!

Oooh…I don’t know how I’ve missed that sauce, but I must try it. [Mostly because I have a whole bunch of nutritional yeast that I keep forgetting to use.]

I’ve never heard of this humnut sauce before. Too bad I can’t find nutritional yeast anywhere otherwise I’d give it a shot. Have fun in DC!

So many colors—I love it! I dig cleaning out the fridge b/c I can try new meals that I would never would have to made but when forced to use what I got–it usually ends up well.

Can I say how jealous I am that you get a spring break? It’s cool, I can own up to it. Have a fabulous trip 🙂

I’m so jealous of your upcoming trip! Have a fantastic time. I kinda love cleaning out our fridge- it was the reason we had eggs with corn and pico de gallo last night. Not my first choice meal, but it was good enough!
