Jack and Jill

January 25, 2011

The vegetarian restaurant that I used to work at had a kid’s sandwich called the Jack & Jill that was simply sprouts and melted cheese on whole wheat bread.

Well, let me tell ya—that ain’t just for kids!

Today for lunch, I had a version of the Jack & Jill—sprouts, melted cheese, plus mushrooms and avocado, all wrapped up in a brown rice wrap:

I LOVE the chewiness of brown rice wraps!

I finished it off with a few chocolate-covered edamame:

Yum! Off to teach…wish me (and my stomach) luck!

I love how the simplest recipes can be the best. What doesn’t go good with cheese?

Melted cheese and avocados is one of my favorites. I used to make “California grilled cheeses” all the time after I graduated college (my culinary skills were limited then). Happy beginning of the semester!

The wrap sounds great, I might try that with Daiya shreds. And yum on the edamame, I’ve never tried those.

Mmm, I just love sprouts! Are those chocolate edamame from Trader Joe’s? I got them once before and was way too obsessed – I’ve been resisting buying them again because I’ll finish the whole container in about .2 seconds.

I haven’t tried brown rice wraps yet, I’m putting them on my list for this week. And chocolate covered edamame, where do you get those??

It’s been too long since I’ve had avocado… I’ve been craving it in a turkey wrap of some sort…

I am putting that chocolate-covered edamame on my next TJs list! And that sandwich sounds fantastic. I sometimes order from the kids menu- they have some yummy options on there! And who doesn’t love feeling like a kiddo?
