Keep The Old

August 11, 2010

In Girl Scouts, we used to sing, “Make new friends, but keep the old…one is silver and the other gold.”  Kind of rings true, doesn’t it?  As much as I love making new friends, there’s just something about old friends that is so…comforting!

We’ve had a great time with Jodi, Nathaniel and Will today.  This afternoon, we took them over to campus, where Will proceeded to get accosted by feed the ducks.

Some of them were getting a little too close for comfort—there was a big fat white one that almost too off his hand!

After a little relaxing at the house, we headed out to Canoe Creek State Park for an evening of fun. The dogs played in the water, the adults enjoyed some “adult beverages,” we grilled burgers (some ham, some portabella), and Will got to play more golf and baseball.  It was a perfect evening!

Our mushroom “burgers” were seriously the size of my head.  Check them out compared to the regular hamburgers:

We just finished a raucous game of hide-and-go-seek/peek-a-boo/chase/tickle war:

I remember that song! It’s totally true though. Some of my oldest friends are the ones that I feel like I can say anything to.

Love grilled portobellos. So glad you’re having a great time with friends. And what is it about being a kid and needing to feed ducks?
