Sookie Stackhouse Sludge

July 29, 2010

Well, we watched the first two episodes of True Blood last night and, as predicted, we loved it!  Ashley compared it to watching soft-core porn, which is pretty accurate. It’s definitely campy, but I think that’s part of what makes it so fun to watch!

In fact, I was so enamored with the show, it inspired my lunch today:

A green monster made with vega powder, spinach, and banana:

green monster

It looks an awful lot like the bayou duckweed that so often covers our bodies of water down in Louisiana.

I also enjoyed this super-ripe nectarine:

Maybe I just have True Blood on the brain, but doesn’t this fruit look bloody, juicy and…well, sensual?  Who knew you could get hot and bothered by a piece of fruit?

Well, other than those crazy kids from the American Pie movies:

Ahhh, Tara Reid, pre-Taradise and exposed boobage incident.  Such an innocent time for her.

Moving on.

One more item on the Louisiana front: my friend Mary Margaret, another Louisiana girl, is raising money for the gulf spill! Mary Margaret is in nursing school in Seattle right now, and she and three of her nursing friends are biking from Seattle to Portland to raise money for the Greater New Orleans Foundation (the same cause that our Food Buzz gulf-themed meals were raising money for).  You can read more about their fundraiser (and perhaps donate!) here.  Ride on, Marge!!

Back to the food…

I also had this Luna protein bar for dessert:

Still good, although I can’t help but compare it to the Lara bar flavor, and, if I’m being honest, the Lara bar wins!

We’re going to the gym this afternoon, and then heading over to Emily and Nick’s for dinner! I’m so excited to be having dinner with our new friends…they brew their own beer, and have invited us over for a tasting!

Hope you’re having a great day…see ya!

Uh I hated True Blood! I managed about 10mins of the 1st episode then gave up 😛

Cut fruits are very sexy and sensuous, I totally agree! I watched the first half of the first True Blood episode, didn’t really like it and started reading the books instead. Now that I’ve read the books I’m going to try watching the series.

Did you know that the author of Sweet Valley High is writing a “10 years Later” book?? Thought you might like that 🙂

I haven’t seen True Blood. I bet I’d like it though… I’ll have to check it out!

It’s been so long since a green smoothie has sounded appealing to me… I know it would be so good for me though so I need to try making one sometime soon.

I’m just starting True Blood. My sister in law loves it and convinced me to give it a try. I’m assuming that I’ll love it too since I flew through the twilight series.

i agree, the larabar wins…and i’ve never tried the Luna bar one!

  8. July 29, 2010 6:52 pm

I just got into True Blood, but I started with Season 2 (cause it’s free on on demand and hubs owns the Netflix queue.) It is slowly becoming one of my favorites — I’ll be interested to hear what you think!
Have a great dinner! Keep Baxter away from the homemade brew!

Oh how fun getting to taste home brews. Hope you have a great night!

I really enjoyed True Blood. Too bad we only get one Netflix disc at a time and Husband doesn’t like True Blood at all! And now that you mention it, that colour smoothie definitely looks like duckweed.

i’ve heard great things about true blood but feel like its too late to get into it. Love the colorful treats!

My boyfriend and I just got into True Blood this summer, and we just finished season 2. Softcore porn describes it pretty well! Also… it gets weirder. Prepare yourselves. We finished the last episode of season 2 this past Saturday (we’ve been using Netflix) and we looked at each other and said, “HOW long do we have to wait for the next season???” So addictive! I just tried the Lara bar today, and yep I agree… it beats Luna 🙂

Tara Reid should be on Celebrity Rehab.

Does Ryan talk to you like Bill yet? I think it is a fun game.

I have a good friend who is obsessed with True Blood…I have yet to see a single episode. I should make it a mission this summer!
    Enjoy yourself! 🙂

Love how bright your GM is! I have been curious to try those Luna protein bars, I hope they’re available here soon!

Oh I LOVE True Blood! Though I must say that the first season wasn’t as good as the second. It only gets better and better!!
My boyfriend and I swore to ourselves that we both wouldn’t watch any episodes until I return from my holiday. Not sure if I can survive three weeks without
a dose True Blood but I just have to keep remembering that I made a promise.
Holding that promise is really tough though. 😉

I loved True Blood. Especially the first season. (I haven’t seen the third yet). It does take a few episodes to get into it though.
