Lunch in a Bowl, Part Two

July 22, 2010

I’ve been really into one-bowl meals for lunch lately, haven’t I?  Yesterday, I enjoyed a black bean bowl, and today it was a yogurt bowl.

I did work for a few hours this morning, and then we spent the rest of the morning cleaning up the house.  Ryan’s parents are coming to visit us this weekend—it will be their first time to see our house, so we want it looking good!

Around 1:00, we took a break from the cleaning to have some lunch.  All of the cleaning, plus no air-conditioning, plus eighty degree temps outside added up to a lackluster appetite on my part.  I wanted something light and refreshing, and a yogurt bowl fit the bill perfectly!

It also gave me a chance to try a new product that I won in a giveaway a while back—NuNaturals sweetener!  I’m a big stevia fan, but I’ve never used the NuNaturals brand, so I was excited to give it a whirl.

I love Greek yogurt, but I always put sweetener in mine—otherwise, it just tastes like sour cream to me! I added a packet of NuNaturals sweetener to my Fage for the yogurt bowl.  The verdict?  I liked it!  It didn’t have any fake taste to it, and it dissolved easily into my yogurt.  Score!

On top of the Fage, I added a nectarine, about a half a cup of fresh blueberries, and a crumbled up Pure bar.  This was the cherry cashew flavor, and I really liked it.  I haven’t been a fan of Pure bars in the past, but this one was tasty!

Enjoyed on the back porch with my new souvenir spoon that I picked up at the Nantucket whaling museum!

This little Heinz spoon is one of my favorites:

Now that I’ve started collecting, I can’t stop!

Oh! And—rewinding to last night—several of you asked how Please Give was.  I really liked it!  I’m a huge Catherine Keener fan, and I thought she was great in this movie.  The movie reminded me a lot of Friends With Money, one of the director’s other movies.  It wasn’t “laugh out loud” funny, but rather quietly comical, and had some really poignant, and sometimes heartbreaking, moments.

And there’s my movie critic review for you.  🙂

Hope you’re having a great day! I have a training session with Eric at four…God, beer me strength.

I love NuNaturals. Have you tried the liquid vanilla? Put that on the Greek yogurt and it’s pure heaven!

I have only heard good things about NuNaturals but have never tried it. The liquid vanilla especially appeals to me.

    I looooooove those spoons!!!
I’m such a fan of all dishes, cups, bowls, forks, knives, spoons, etc! The wooden one is lovely! Does it hold onto strong flavors though?

Mini spoons. I always tell Lars I want the small spoon whenever we eat, so maybe this would be a collection I could start. I got a mini wine glass. Maybe I can start a collection like that.
