Greetings from Nantucket!

July 4, 2010

Hi friends! Sorry for the disappearing act yesterday—we were traveling pretty much all day! We left for Hyannis around 11:00, and spent the day tooling around town.  We made some patriotic stops in Plymouth, Massachusetts along the way, which felt very appropriate for this weekend!

Around 3:00, we actually found a Cape Cod dog park, which made us (and the dogs) very happy! We were able to really tire the dogs out before our late night ferry ride.  At 8:00, we boarded the ferry, and were greeted on Nantucket about 2 hours later by my parents!  Katherine, Kevin, and Sophie were already at the house, so we were the last to arrive–  let the Nantucket vacation officially begin!

Our house is beautiful, and right on the beach! Check out the view I awoke to this morning:

Pretty beautiful.  I woke up early, right around 6:00, and so did my parents, so the three of us headed out for an early morning beach walk with the dogs.  It was their first time to see the ocean, so it felt like a big moment in my life as a fur parent, ha!

Not surprisingly, Ella loved the beach, while Baxter was a little wary.  I think he thought the waves were out to get him…which, I guess, in a way, they were!

He stayed pretty far away from the shore, but enjoyed the run on the beach all the same!

Around 11, my sister and I headed out for a three mile run.  It was nice, because there’s a bike/running trail right by our house, but it was HOT! Tomorrow, we’re definitely going to head out a little earlier!

After we all showered (outdoors! I just love outdoor showers), we piled into the car to go to Bartlett’s Farm Market, where we picked up all sorts of necessities for lunch and diner.  Bartlett’s had a large deli case with all kinds of gourmet salads, so we got a bunch to take back to the house for lunch!

Mmmmm…Israeli couscous salad, black bean salsa, tomato + mozzarella, zucchini salad, and broccoli slaw, all enjoyed out on the back deck!

This fourth is off to a great start.  Hope you’re having a good one as well! See you tonight!

PS- Everything has been going very smoothly, but we had a really embarrassing incident earlier today when Ella and Sophie realized they brought the same Fourth of July outfit.  Awkward!!!

They’re going to end up in a “Who Wore It Best: Holiday Edition” spread in US Weekly.

Happy Independence Day!

Wow! Everything is so beautiful and you must be adoring that house! The weather looks really fantastic and I’m officially jealous. Although.. we ARE supposed to be having a super sunny week starting tomorrow. I hope so but then again, you can never trust the weather in BC.
