Big Salad, Part Deux

May 29, 2010

Hey guys!  Happy Saturday to you! I woke up this morning feeling 90% better…almost back to normal!  My body feels better, but my head is still kind of stuffy with a bit of congestion.  I bet in the next few days, I’ll be completely well.

To speed the process along, this morning, I downed some green juice. I juiced a huge bunch of dandelion greens with one Fuji apple, and let me just say “Yeeeeeeeow!”  That juice was ripe!  I wouldn’t really recommend the dandelion greens—this juice was SUPER green and pungent.  I literally felt like I was drinking grass, and the apple did little to mellow the flavor out.  But—on the plus side, I could practically feel it kicking my cold’s butt!

I felt so much better, in fact, that I decided to take the dogs for a stroll down on the Lower trail.  They’ve been cooped up in the house with me, so I felt bad for them! I feel really guilty when I’m sick, because it always means less walks for the dogs…I swear, they’ve looked depressed the past couple of days!

Nothing a six mile walk on a pretty wooded trail won’t fix though! We walked for about an hour and a half, which felt really good.  The dogs were definitely loving the fresh air and sunshine.

When we returned home, it was definitely time for lunch:

Big Salad, part deux.  This one had greens, avocado, cilantro, mushrooms, tomatoes, pumpkin seeds, Mary’s Gone crackers, and balsamic dressing.  Yum!

Is it just me, or do you crave salads in the summer?  I never want anything hot! Especially since our house doesn’t have air conditioning, and temps have been in the high eighties here.  Ugh.

Hope you’re having a great Saturday! I’m going to read in bed for a while and take it easy! See you tonight…

Well, maybe your dogs were depressed because of no walks, but MAYBE they miss their Aunt Maddie and Aunt Sugar! I know Maddie and Sugar have certainly been moping around lately. So glad you’re feeling better – I don’t think there’s a germ out there that can survive a glass of that grass. The one time I had that little cup at Healthy Planet, it was SO STRONG – I think I might rather have a cold!
