Happy Birthday Dinner

May 18, 2010

Hello, hello!

Last night, in honor of my brother-in-law Kevin’s May 19th birthday and Ryan’s June 9th birthday, we had a joint birthday celebration!

We went to The Village, a fancy Shreveport restaurant that’s been around since the mid-eighties.  The Village is kind of fancy-schmancy—they don’t use menus!  The waiter recited each option—and there were a LOT of options!  Imagine reciting about 10 different appetizers, 8 salads, 8 entrees, and 5 desserts in detail from memory every night!

As we listened, we enjoyed some of the most delicious, doughy bread I’ve ever tasted:

Everything sounded amazing…it was hard to decide. But I finally went with:

Fried baby artichokes in a saffron cream sauce:

Bibb lettuce with marinated asparagus, basil cheddar, hearts of palm, and tomato:

And fettuccine with cream sauce and julienned vegetables:

Plus, some special birthday desserts!

Red Velvet cake balls:

And carrot cake:

Yum!  A delicious birthday dinner indeed!

Hope you’re having a great Tuesday!  I’m going out to lunch today with my BFF Ellie and our moms.  It should be a fun time!  See you on the flip side!

Wow – no menu and they read each item off. That is amazing and look at a menu long and hard before deciding. Not sure I could do it, lol.
