Back in the Groove

May 10, 2010

Hello, hello! Happy Monday to you!

It always feels good to get back to normal after a blow-out weekend like the one we had! Weddings and holidays are fun, but I’m always ready to get back to normal.

This morning, we got up early and headed over to Katherine’s to do a little baby-sitting action while she took Oscar and George to the vet.  Oscar is doing good after his scary hit-and-run.  He’s almost back to normal, and is down to just one kind of medication.  They were having to give him fluid shots and big pills, but all of his numbers were good, so now he’s almost out of the woods!

He’s been resting up:

…and is looking good!

George, on the other hand, got some bad news—he has heartworms!! 😦

The vet said that it was common with shelter dogs, and even though he’s on heartworm medication, the mosquitoes probably just got him.  He’s going to be okay, but the treatment is pretty expensive.

Still, it’s worth it:

How can you not love a face like that?

Sophie was great during our baby-sitting session.  She had a bottle, and promptly went back to sleep!  I think my sister must be lying when she complains about her being fussy.  She seemed perfectly content to us!  🙂

After sitting with Sophie, we headed to the Y where I ran 6 miles on the treadmill.  I was glad to be running in the AC instead of the Louisiana humidity!

Lunch was picked up to-go, from Sunshine Cafe:

Avocado sandwich:

And a trip through the salad bar:

Plus a strawberry Synergy and a *few* bites of a chocolate chip coconut oatmeal cookie that Ryan picked up (amazing).

We’re going to see Greenberg tonight—I’m excited!  I think we might be headed for a sushi dinner after that—my first one as a vegetarian, actually.  Before I went vegetarian, I lurrrrrved me some sushi, so it will be bittersweet to be eating it as a vegetarian.  No spicy tuna roll?!?  Boo!

I’ll be back with a dinner recap! Hope you’re having a great day!

Avocado rolls are really good though. I think sushi would be the hardest thing to give up if I went vegetarian.

I always get some vegetarian sushi rolls and really love them. The Louisiana heat just seems killer now – I’m dreading try to run on those days it hits 98 degrees and 100% humidity. 😦

Oh, sweet animals! Glad they are both going to be ok! Enjoy your evening!

Lol– No! I wish! George is my sister’s dog. They got him at a shelter back in November. He is SO sweet! 🙂

Aw, glad kitty is doing better. But poor puppy. 😦 Beautiful salad and Strawberry is my favorite Synergy flavor, had one today at Whole Foods. 🙂

I am so happy Oscar is okay 🙂 And that George’s heartworms are treatable!

Pretty sure you can’t talk about Sophie without pics of her. It’s not allowed 😉
