Carbo-Loading + Long Run Sunday
I spent all weekend carbo-loading for my long run on Sunday…so I guess all that pasta and bread and cheese is why I had a good run, right? Right.
On Friday night, we headed out to attend a folk music concert at the Lowe Mill. The Lowe Mill is an old mill in Huntsville that has been turned into a center for arts, music, and entertainment. They have classes, workshops, artist booths, a gourmet chocolate shop, a record shop—it’s quite the place! And, when the weather is nice in the spring and fall, they have weekly Friday night outdoor concerts! This was, amazingly, the first one we’ve been to—and it was SO much fun! I wish we’d been going to these all along! Oh well…now we know.
A few photos, pre-concert:
Lila did great in the outdoor setting. They had a huge space up front, right by the stage, where kids could run around and play with hoolahoops and bubbles and balls. She had a great time—we didn’t end up home until 9:00!
We were meeting a large group of friends at the concert, so we brought some picnic food to share. Our main contribution was this pasta salad:
…which was easy and delicious. Cheese tortellini, shredded arugula, peas, grape tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and jarred pesto. Yum!
We made a LOT, and there was a lot of food to share, so we ended up taking a lot of it home and having it again for dinner last night. Works for me! I needed the carbs, right? After all, I was staring down ten miles this morning:
Ten miles done! BEAUTIFUL weather—perfectly sunny and cool. Love running in the fall. My miles weren’t as speedy as I’d like, but during the long runs, I’m not focusing as much on speed so much as just…well, getting them done, ha. There were a few speedy miles in there (8:56!), and a few slower ones (9:38), but all in all, I’m pleased with how this long run went!
We’re off to do some shopping this morning, and maybe settle in for a chili dinner tonight—I do believe fall is starting to arrive!
