One Berry, Two Berry…
Pick me a blueberry!
Jamberry just so happens to be one of Lila’s favorite books. I mean, how could you not love a book that includes elephants skating on raspberry jam? Sidenote: I’m pretty sure the author was indulging in more than just berries on those “magical” trips to the forest. I mean, come on– “Moonberry, starberry, cloudberry sky! Boomberry, zoomberry, rockets shoot by!”
Sure pal. Whatever you say.
Anyway. Considering how much Lila loves that berry-eating bastard of a bear and his little boy friend, it seems only fitting that we spent one of our last days of summer picking blueberries:
Ah, nothing says fun like a little manual labor in Alabama in August, am I right?
Hashtag: things white people do for fun
But seriously—it actually was fun. Lila ate the berries basically as quickly as we picked them, but somehow we ended up coming away with a nice bag full of fresh berries, which I used as part of my lunch:
Cottage cheese and berries, + honey. Is it just me, or does cottage cheese get a bad rap? I know people think of it as like, a 1970’s diet food, but I gotta say—it’s pretty effin’ delicious.
Dinner was equally simple and delicious:
Veggie burger. Sweet potato fries. I had a grandiose plan to *make* the veggie burgers, but alas, the afternoon got away from me. Hence the Sunshine Burger peeking out from that cheese. Eh, still delicious!
We have a busy day tomorrow—not one, but TWO playdates. I think we’re trying to cram all of summer into this last week before school starts. I’ll let you know how it goes.
