Madaket Meal and Carrier Frustrations
Morning!
Yesterday, we lazed around for quite a while. After eating breakfast with Aunt Katherine:
…Lila took about a two hour nap! Works for me.
Once she woke up, we decided to head to the opposite side of the island—Madaket. Madaket is on the far side of Nantucket—and is also where we stayed two years ago. We like our house better this year, but as far as location goes, you can’t beat our Madaket beach house!
Not to mention, we were practically right next door to a *very* tasty restaurant—Madaket Millie’s. We decided to pay Millie’s a visit for lunch, after exploring the back bay.
Well, the *plan* was the explore the back bay. Unfortunately, the bay isn’t stroller-friendly, and someone:
…has decided that she HATES her Ergo carrier. It makes me so mad—she used to love it! But now, we put her in the Ergo, and she immediately starts to just wail and beat her head against my chest. I think it’s because she still has to use the infant insert—she’s not nearly big enough for the carrier alone yet. But, the insert is kind of confining—I think it makes her feel a little claustrophobic!
Have any other mamas out there had their babies turn against the carrier? I think we might try the bjorn—it’s a little less constrictive.
Anyway, we tried to carry her, but she wasn’t having it, so Ryan and I strolled her around Madaket until lunch time.
Lunch at Millie’s was just as we remembered: delicious:
My picture is blurry, but that’s a big pile of lobster salad on top of mixed greens with fresh corn salad and potatoes underneath. Ryan had the scallop tacos, and they were mighty tasty.
Yep.

Totally not the same thing at all and I get that but Bella goes in random phases where she hates certain things or places that the week before never bothered her. Then she will get over it and forget all about her hatred of said object or place. I am always like what is going on in that brain of yours?? Sorry Lila is hating the Ergo right now. How much longer until you can take out the infant insert??
I know– our dogs are the same way, and Lila definitely is too! That’s why I’m not giving up on it– I think probably once she gets older (7-8 months) and can feel more secure in it, she’ll like it again. At least that’s what I’m hoping!!
Aw poor thing. That stinks (especially for you). Hopefully it’s just a phase? My niece pretty much cried about everything and my nephew nothing so no help from me LOL
My son hated facing in in any carrier until around 4 months, then suddenly he was ok with it. I was so glad he decided to like facing in because pretty much all my carriers work that way! In the meantime I carried him facin out in a couple slings, the balboa was his favorite, but I used the maya too. Just kinda froggyed his legs and put him in the pouch facing out. He loved that.
I might give the bjorn a go. Kay used that….probably until 9 1/2 months! She loved that thing. Beautiful meals
We rented a bjorn from a baby rental place and used it today– she liked it much better!!
I’ll be interested to see if she continues to like the bjorn better! that’s the one we have. thanks for sharing your experiences!
Maya loved the Bjorn. My back didn’t but chronic lower back pain is worth the peace and quiet I still recall needing so desperately!
Never a dull moment! Hears to hoping Lila finds something suitable to be transported in
