This Sauce…Like, Whoa
There are actually very few recipes that I come up with that give me the urge to simply write, “MAKE. THIS. NOW.”
This sauce is one of them.
After our trip to the market on Thursday, we ended up with a plethora of blueberries and basil. Thus, THE SAUCE was born. And we’ve never been the same since.
Blackberry Basil Sauce
Ingredients:
1 tbsp. butter
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 tbsp. fresh basil, chiffonade or finely minced
1/2 cup white wine
1 cup fresh blackberries
1 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
Directions:
In a saucepot, melt butter. Add garlic and basil and cook for about a minute. Add the remaining ingredients, stirring well and macerating some of the berries with the back of a wooden spoon (you can mash more or less, depending on how thick you want the sauce). Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and cook for another 5-10 minutes.
SO easy. And SO good.
We served ours over salmon, which was amazing, but I think it would also go really well over chicken or pork, or even ice cream—whoa.
Seriously. MAKE. THIS. NOW.
And have a good Monday.

Soooo…I have a pint of currants that I might try this with. I’ve never bought currants in my life but they’re part of the CSA this week and I just can’t think of anything to do with them besides sauce! I hope it works just as well as the blackberries
Wow! I bet that is amazing!!! Perfect for salmon. I am on it.
This looks amazing, I must try a veganized version on tempeh – yum!
