Mom’s Morning Out
Hello, hello! How goes it?
This morning was a big one—it was Lila’s first morning with her nanny! One of my students is going to watch Lila three times a week starting in the fall when I go back to teaching, and she’s going to come twice a week during the summer so that she and Lila can get to know each other. I have to admit, I was a little bit nervous about leaving this morning…but I got over it pretty quickly, ha! It sure was nice to have a few hours to go to the gym, run errands, and stop by Starbucks before heading home to little miss. And when I got home, she was doing great– wide awake and happy to be playing.
I think I’m going to like this nanny thing.
When I got home, I made myself a big ol’ green smoothie:
Blueberries, spinach, almond milk, vega powder, and cucumber (!). I never put cucumbers in my smoothies before, but I’ve started adding them and I really like it. I’m not so good about drinking water, so I figure the more hydration I can get through my food, the better.
Last night was another healthy meal:
Chicken sausage (Applegate Farms), pineapple, green pepper, and purple onions, sauteed and served over another grain mix. I know these microwave grain bags aren’t exactly economical, but DANG they are convenient. This meal took about 15 minutes to prepare from start to finish. Eat it, Rachael Ray.
Now Lila and Ryan are both napping, and I’m buzzing from my Starbucks. Maybe I’ll clean the house?!?
Or maybe I’ll catch up on the Kardashians.
Have a great day!

Love meals that you can make in under 30 minutes! Maybe you can do a little multi-tasking – dust for a minute, watch TV for a minute, etc.
Hi Anna ….
Lunch looks (the aromas are divine!) wonderful.
Enjoyed your post. Wow …. I think it’s great Lila will have her very own nanny! The more little babies are introduced to others …. the better. Lila will have extra love + care!
Seriously, the boys were bickering yesterday afternoon and I told them I missed my free babysitter (aka school). They stopped shortly after that. I think it’s great that you have someone you trust that can help you out! I’m glad you had some you time (always important)! Dinner looks amazing and I love the color of that smoothie!
Good for you – a little gym and Starbucks actions sounds lovely! Chicken sausage is such an incredible invention for easy dinners – I am definitely going to try adding pineapple!
Eye heart ewe.
Come visit us!!
Sauteed/grilled veggies + any grain is the perfect quick dinner – great idea!
And I used to be a nanny for verrrry young babies and Mom is always more sad than Baby. I bet your nanny and Sweet Little Pea will fall in love! Even after I stopped nanny-ing I still keep in touch with and visit the families I played with
It’s good stuff all around, you’ll love it!
Score for the nanny, that’s so awesome!!! My youngest will be starting Kindergarten a year from this September and I’m not kidding when I tell you I’m counting down to that happy day. Hours to myself while 3 kids are at school?! Yes, freaking, please! I’ve put in my time as a full time SAHM, I deserve a few hours to myself every day when they are in school
That’s great that you found a nanny for Lila!
I’m loving chicken sausage right now… very yummy! And yay for a nanny!
So glad it worked out so well with the nanny. You’ll love that! I like the cucumber in smoothies! (and I’m loving the Maca Powder!). Give Lila a kiss for me.
Hahaha definitely choose the Kardashians
And awesome! I’m about to go watch a little 6 month old together with a 1 year old and it’s their mom’s first time leaving them. She is super anxious! But I hope that quickly turns into your positive attitude!
Yay, glad you got some time for yourself and the smoothie and meal look fabulous!
Yum!! That dinner sounds amazing!! I am glad you got out and about this morning solo. It is probably taboo but I think it is good to get out without the baby for a few hours a week just to be you again. To be just Anna and not Anna The Mom. Does that make sense?
