Can You Die of a Cheese Overdose?
Because if I don’t come home, you can be pretty sure that’s what happened.
What a way to go, though.
Hi, friends! Happy Sunday! We’ve had a relaxing few days here in Semur…the weather has been a little unpredictable—thunderstorms rolling in one minute, then the next minute, perfectly sunny skies.
We’ve still been getting out quite a bit—yesterday, we took a 12k hike around a beautiful lake outside of town. I didn’t bring my camera along, for fear that it might get wet, but it was really pretty! Plus, it helped us to burn off at least a *little* of our delicious dinner from the night before. On Friday night, we went to a small restaurant in town called Le Douze (the twelve?). It was a really great meal—good food and beautiful presentation!
We started with olives:
And then we moved on to our first course, where I enjoyed tomatoes stuffed with goat cheese:
So, so good. I don’t know what that purple stuff was, but it made for a really pretty presentation!
Then, my entree arrived, en pappillote:
Fish! Most of my meals have actually been totally vegetarian here (with a few bites of pate snuck in here and there), but on this night, I was really glad to have some fish!
And then, the obligatory cheese plate:
Whew! It was a great meal! If you’re ever in the Semur area, I highly recommend Le Douze! ;-)
Last night, we enjoyed pizzas at home:
…which we burned off this morning while strolling around a neighboring town, Flavigny. Flavigny’s claim to fame is that it’s the town where the movie Chocolat was filmed—it’s one of my mom’s favorites, so she was especially excited to be there:
Sadly, Johnny Depp was nowhere to be found.
But, we did have fun exploring the town. Here are some photo highlights:
Now, we’re relaxing at the house…tonight, we’re cooking at home!
I hope you’ve had a great weekend…we only have a few days left in Semur, and then it’s off to Paris!
