The Cat Came Back
Hey guys! Ryan and I both read Pet Sematary while we were in Europe, so when we got back, we put the movie on our Net Flix queue. We’re about to settle in for the night and watch it—I hope it’s not too scary!
Tonight, the rain held off, so we stuck to the plan and cooked up some tofu on the grill:
Topped with lots of spicy Cajun seasoning, just the way I like it.
Along with the tofu, we had what started off as simple side salads, and what ended up as meals in themselves: romaine, purple cabbage, avocado, tomatoes, carrots, sprouts, goat cheese, pumpkin seeds, and homemade lemon basil tahini dressing.
I made the dressing earlier today, and it was really tasty! In a blender, I blended 1 cup of basil, 1/3 cup lemon juice, 3 tbsp. tahini, 1/2 cup water, and 2 tbsp. tamari until smooth. Yum!
I always keep my jars around just for moments like this.
Okay…time to get our spook on. See you tomorrow!

I used to have nightmares from that movie when I was little!
I cannot do scary movies. I’m a baby. Anything with dolls…ahh!
I ALWAYS save my jars…always! Never know what youre gonna need them for!
love the tofu and i have a tofu press on it’s way! so happy and cant wait to make anna style tofu
I save jars too! So handy for storing things!!
I only saw part of Pet Sematary but I thought it was scaryyyy! I’m a chicken when it comes to scary movies though
Dinner looks delicious! Enjoy the movie! Stephen King’s stories freak me out…in a good way! My husband just illustrated a graphic novel of his!
Very cool!!
Tofu on the grill? Why didn’t I think of that! Great dinner..
I was obsessed with that movie when I was in middle school! I don’t think it’s too scary but I haven’t seen it in a long time.
The cat came back song definitely just jumped into my head!
That dressing sounds absolutley incredible! But where did you get a cups’ worht of basil!? Do you have a basil plant?
Our farmers market sells bunches of it on the cheap
I WISH I had a basil plant, but every time I try, I kill mine!
I finally got caught up with your blog. Love the color of your livingroom
and your food pictures look amazing.
The salad dressing you made sounds really good I need to give it a try
Thank, Galareh!
That dressing looks delicious!
I’m a horror fan! Please understand that I love good literature, read lots of best sellers, belong to two book groups that wouldn’t even consider horror/slasher genres and ….well, you get the picture. I thought the early Stephen King works were better. My two favorites are The Stand and Salem’s Lot. I’m also fascinated with serial killers. Yikes! Other than that, I’m perfectly normal.
Happy trails to you and safe travel.
Best,
Bonnie
Bonnie, we’re meeting up with Stefan and Elyssa on our way to Boston…keep your eyes out for them on the blog!
If this were Facebook, I would click “Like.”
I definitely save jars if there’s even a chance i’ll use them.
LOVE all the pics today! The second is especially colorful and fun!
And the dressing sounds great too. Im feeling a dressing kick coming on and I want this one in the mix!!
you make tofu look so good! seriously, i don’t love the texture of tofu cooked any way, but every time i see your awesome meals it makes my heart happy and i just want to try again!
That tofu looks absolutely picture perfect!!!! YUM.
That book is awesome! Hope you liked the movie!
Grilled tofu…mmm.
Love the placemats. I have the same one!
I’m loving the sound of that dressing!
Also, my grandmother had Pet Sematary on her bookshelf when I was growing up; the creepy, green-eyed cat terrified me too much to read past the front cover. I blame Stephen King for my inability to spell “cemetery” correctly in a sixth-grade bee.
I’ve never had grilled tofu that wasn’t from a restaurant. I can’t believe I haven’t thought of making it at home. Thanks for the idea!
Yum, the dressing looks great and I keep jars for that too. Beautiful dinner pics.
