Ciao, Venice…Dobar Dan Croatia!
Hi friends! We just arrived at our hotel for the night in Porec, Croatia. We’re only here for the night—tomorrow morning, we pick up our rental car (eek!), and head to Pula, which is about 1 hour south of where we are now.
Today, we had our last day in Venice…well, we’re coming back at the end of the trip for our flight home, but we won’t be back for very long!
After sleeping in and enjoying a late breakfast, we headed to the area that our ferry was departing from, which was also an area of the city that we hadn’t explored much in the past few days, so that was fun!
We walked around and stumbled upon a neat antique market…too bad we were lugging our bags around! It was kind of hard to browse with all of our suitcases in hand!
Around 1:30, we settled in for a leisurely lunch. On a quiet canal street, we found a hotel that opened up into a courtyard restaurant…perfect! The walls were covered in ivy, and there was even a small fountain. It was quiet and cool, just what we were looking for.
For lunch, we split a starter plate of Caprese salad:
Along with the vegetarian pizza:
Best pizza we’ve had so far. The crust was perfectly wood-fired, and the roasted vegetable toppings were so flavorful! Washed down with a cold beer, this was pretty much the perfect lunch.
Wait. I take that back.
We got some gelato, and then it was the perfect lunch:
After lunch, we strolled around for a while longer, and soon it was time to head to the dock to catch our ferry to Croatia. The ferry ride was only a few hours—it passed like nothing! We pulled into our hotel around 8:00, so we weren’t able to explore too much, but from what I can tell, Croatia is going to be beautiful! We arrived at the dock just as the sun was going down:
We had a quick dinner at our hotel—sorry, no pictures—and are now watching some sort of talent show on Croatian television. Yessss.
Hope your weekend is going well!
When I learn how to say goodbye in Croatian, I’ll sign off with that. Until then…good-bye!

Oooh Croatia – I haven’t been there! I can’t wait to see what it’s like
I can’t wait to see the pictures of Coatia! The pictures of the market food were so beautiful – I wish I were there!
