Who Took the Sun Out of Sunday?
Hey guys! Well, it’s Sunday, but we have no sun! It’s pretty cloudy here, but at least it’s warm—60 degrees! I’ll take it! It’s supposed to rain tomorrow, but then clear up and get sunny and warm later in the week.
This morning, I took advantage of the warmer weather and went on a speedy 3 mile run. It’s exactly 1.5 miles to my high school from our house, so I’ve been running the same quick route for years…and my mom has been running it since they moved back to Shreveport, 30 years ago! I guess when you find a route that works, you stick with it!
After my run, I took a quick, cold shower, and then we headed out for a delicious brunch. We walked to George’s, which is nothing less than a Shreveport institution. It’s just a good old-fashioned greasy spoon diner, but it’s the best! We spent many a Sunday morning eating breakfast there when I was a kid, so it was fun to go back!
I had a classic breakfast: two eggs, over easy, hash browns (with LOTS of ketchup), and biscuits and jam (unpictured, but I had two), along with coffee. Yum!!
George’s is a few miles away from our house, so we worked up quite an appetite on the walk there! It was a tasty meal indeed, and now I’m stuffed. I usually prefer to eat a lighter breakfast, like cereal or a smoothie, but sometimes a good old-fashioned breakfast like this just hits the spot!
Ryan snapped some pics of these neighborhood trees as we walked…the trees here stay in Mardi Gras spirit all year long!
Hope you’re having a great Sunday! I can’t wait to watch the Academy Awards tonight—see you then!
OH! And Katherine said that she woke up with some cramps last night…could be a good sign that Sophie’s almost ready to come greet the world! Keep your fingers crossed!

Sometimes a big breakfast is just necessary, especially when shared with family! I love the Mardi Gras beads still up. So festive! Hoping you get to meet Sophie soon
I looove breakfasts like that.. but I usually eat them for dinner
I can’t stand breakfasts like that lol! I think it’s the eggs…I’m not an egg fan
It’s all about the oatmeal IMHO
Glad you had a good day!
Haha I love those trees!!! Come on and get here already Sophie!
Haha, yea we still have mardi gras beads in trees and on power lines. I love little diners and breakfasts like that, and I’m jealous that it’s so easy for y’all to just walk on over.
i wish the sun were out for you! it’s been so nice to finally see some sunshine here
That tree looks awesome! I bet it scores high for tasting the rainbow
I love the name…Sophie! Hee hee.
I tend to stick to the same route, too. Running isn’t an adventure for me…it’s a daily habit, so I like things to be the same!
I love diners! Delicious!
Haha i love the Mardi Gras beads! So festive and colorful!
Glad you got in a run! We’re supposed to have rain here tomorrow too, but at least it’s not going to be cold!
Not my type of breakfast, lol.
Sweet run though and I love the beads, I usually cover my Xmas tree with them. Happy Sunday!
the beads are beautiful…and yes, what a classic breakfast!
This is my idea of a perfect Sunday morning! Run, diner, walk outside… have a great night!
I love the Mardi Gras tree.
