Boy Is My Face Red
Hey guys! Happy Thursday! It’s been a low-key morning here. Got some work done early this morning, then hopped on the t-mill for a lovely six mile run (walked the last half mile). I took the dogs out for a stroll too because we’re supposed to be getting MORE snow this afternoon—ugh! I hope I don’t get stuck up at campus when I go up to teach my classes!
Speaking of which, funny story. On Tuesday, my first class starts at 1:05, hence my rushed lunch posts. So, this previous Tuesday, I rushed up to campus, made it to my class right at 1:05, and practically NO ONE was there. We didn’t have bad weather or anything, so I was so confused. My class usually has 25 students, and there were about six kids sitting in the seats. “Where IS everyone?” I asked. My students just shrugged their shoulders.
Well fine, I thought, if they’re all going to skip class or come in late, I’m going to give a quiz. “Alright, pull out some paper,” I said, and they all (well, all six of them) groaned. I started rattling off questions from the reading in my “stern teacher” voice for the quiz, and as I gave the quiz, some students started streaming in with panicked looks on their faces, upset that they were missing a reading quiz.
Finally, one students raised his hand tentatively. “Yes?” I barked. “What is it?”
“Ummm…doesn’t class start at 1:15?” he asked in a timid voice.
I looked at the clock. Ohhhhhhh. Whoops.
Apparently I’ve been starting class ten minutes early for the last FOUR classes, and no one said anything!!! I guess when I cancelled those classes because of the snow, I just kind of got my schedule messed up in my head!
“I just figured you were a real go-getter,” one of my students told me, shrugging. Gotta love ‘em.
We all had a good laugh about it. Plus, I got to tell them to rip up their quizzes, Rod Belding style:
Funny stuff.
So, with ten extra minutes in my schedule, I got to have a nice, relaxing lunch today.
Sunshine burger in an Ezekial pita (I’m loving these! So soft and chewy!), plus sprouts, ketchup, tomato, and raw cheese. I also had a Kashi Crunchy snack bar (chocolate caramel flavor) for dessert.
I have some exciting announcements about the sugar challenge coming up, plus the unveiling of the March challenge (which I am super psyched for!) is right around the corner!
Happy Thursday, everybody! See you tonight for dinnah.

I *love* Ezekiel pitas!!! They are so delicious – and so, so healthy! I’ve still never tried Sunshine burgers. They sound awesome, but I’ve never bought them!
Too funny about the class! I can’t believe no on bothered to say anything sooner.
OHMIGOSH LOL!! I bet the kids were afraid to say something.
I would’ve been so embarrassed. I blush like a tomato!
LOL!! That sounds like something I would do
You are so good for doing 6 miles on the treadmill! I wish I loved the treadmill!
Have a great day!
Ugh– I definitely don’t love it! But I tolerate it when the weather outside is so bad!
Rod Belding style… hilarious! Curious – what brand of raw cheese do you eat? I have been wanting to try Sunshine Burgers – now I must go grab some… along with the Ezekiel pitas! Thanks!
Mine is from Organic Valley! They have sharp and mild, and it’s SO good!
Haha oh no!!! I love that you told them to rip up their quizzes though
Can’t wait to hear more about the sugar initiative!
Ha! Funny story- happens to the best of us. At least you can laugh it off! That pita looks awesome and I look forward to keeping up with this blog!
hahaha! Sorry to laugh, but that’s funny. At least you have a good sense of humor about it. Belding style!!
Was Rod related to Mr. Belding? I don’t remember that at all.
Emily…yeah Rod was supposed to be Mr. Belding’s cooler younger brother!
EMILY! I can’t believe you don’t remember the Rod Belding episode! He was supposed to take the kids rafting (after they scorn Mr. Belding’s Yellowstone idea), but then he ditches them to spend the weekend with Inga, a stewardess. It really teaches Zach a lesson about being grateful for Mr. Belding, boring as he may seem. Classic SBTB.
Thank you, ladies, for clearing that up for me! I’ll have to YouTube it.
Oh Anna that is funny!!! I loved the Saved By The Bell clip….ah wasn’t that the best show when we were kids?! Loved it! Second only to my beloved Felicity!
hahah oh no – that is too funny!!!!!!
LOL did they get out 15 minutes earlier than they should have?? If so, they should have kept their mouth’s shut!!
lol, no, apparently I’ve just been keeping them for longer than I should have…which makes me feel even worse!
Your lunch looks great
Congrats on the 6-mile ‘mil run! How do you stay entertained when running indoors? I have such treamill ADD! LOL
Have a great night <3
Lauren
Pandora on my i-phone has introduced me to a whole new level of being entertained while running on the dreadmill!
That’s so funny! At least you were all good humored about it
What a great story! LOL
Alicia
Geez, march challenge already? It seems like only yesterday you were eating vegan!
I LOLed at you starting class early. I wish I had that experience, my prof always starts class late! I need to try sprouts…they look yummy, and just sound healthy
oh that pita looks wonderful!
oh saved by the bell… I watch that on the treadmill most mornings
Haha! I would be that kid that always walks in late then! Amazing they all get there early!
Can’t wait to hear about your March Challenge!
that is hilarious! I’m so surprised no one said anything sooner!
I would have killed my teacher if they started early!! You’re lucky to have such obedient kids. Tell us March already!
Ok, that is a funny story!
Ha! This is too funny
I am happy the students had a good sense of humor about it!
