Twenty-Seven Years Young
Hey all! Hope you’ve had a great Wednesday! Thanks again for all of the wonderful birthday wishes! One of my best friends who happens to share my birthday texted me today to inform me that we are 27 years young…I figured that was a good way to look at it!
As planned, Ryan and I went to hot yoga again up in State College. Maybe our teacher reads my blog and saw me complaining about the “lukewarm-ness” of our last class, because it was definitely hotter today. Sweat was dripping onto my mat!
Our teacher also changed things up a little…I guess he was feeling a little crazy or something, because he definitely strayed from the traditional 26 poses you usually do in Bikram. But, we ended up really liking it—the new poses were challenging, I think partially just because they were so unexpected.
Our teacher makes a big deal about staying with the pose and not letting your mind stray to what might be bothering you or stressing you out in your day to day life…it’s much harder to do that than it might seem!
But, as always, I left class feeling invigorated and cleansed, from the inside out.
Then I ate my weight in Thai food.
We tried out a new Thai restaurant: Cozy Thai. It was great! Thai food is a favorite of mine (and definitely vegetarian and vegan-friendly).
I started off with some green tea:
For a starter, Ryan and I got something a bit different: tasty cups! This was pastry filled with peas, corn, potatoes, and cilantro. Interesting!
For our entrees, we both went vegan so that we could share and share alike. I got Spicy Basil Tofu, and Ryan got some sort of tofu and broccoli noodle dish. Both were delicious!
Sorry for the blurry pictures—these are courtesy of my i-phone. Not too bad, right?
For dessert, we went back to Webster’s bookstore just like last week. Ryan got a few cookies, and I got a “vegan choco-almond whole wheat sprouted grain scone.” Hmmmmm….chocolate cake this ain’t! It definitely had a “health food” vibe going on, but overall, it was pretty tasty!
All in all, it’s been a great birthday—good food, good dogs, good yoga…good times!
Hope you’ve had a happy hump day!

Great birthday eats!
Yay! So glad you had a great birthday! You deserve it!
mmmm GOOD!
jk, very cool!
You are ten days older than me HAHA! IN your FACE!
This comment just made me laugh out loud
Oh yeah, happy birthday! Forgot that part. Glad you had a nice day, and a great meal.
I’m glad you had such a wonderful birthday! Of course, any day with thai food is a good one!
oh man.. gota try thai food ASAP!
I’m glad you had a great birthday. Your food looks fabulous!
Happy birthday from one capricorn to another!
Happy Birthday! What I wouldn’t give to be 27 years young for just one day. Glad you had a wonderful day. Yoga and Thai food sounds like a perfect b’day evening.
Alicia
Glad it was a good bday, the food looks great. Yeah, getting good shots with an iPhone can be tricky.
Then I ate my weight in Thai food. MOST EXCELLENT, i do that with broccoli!
Bikram bores me b/c it’s only the same 26…and so for me, straying from those would be awesome and I am glad that it worked for you! Ashtanga is very systematic, BUT there are 4 full series, each of which have about 150 poses per series. So although it’s always the same series, it’s way more than 26. I think you’d love it, it’s naturally kept warm, but not jacked up ridic hot or anytthing
It sounds like you had a wonderful Birthday… I love Thai food but unfortunately we don’t have a good thai place here in Houston
That’s crazy! I would think in such a big city, you’d be able to find some really good Thai food
Sounds like such a wonderful birthday! I really want to try Bikram but I think those poses would bore me after a while. I love being surprised and trying new poses.
Dinner looks great! Thai is one of my favourites!!
yum thai food & a birthday – sounds like an awesome night. glad your yoga class was HOT this time.
Happy belated birthday! Sorry I am late
Ryan definitely had Pad Siew! I have a recipe for our version of it on my blog
I love that you are totally getting into hot yoga!
Totally late on this, but Happy Birthday Anna!! So glad to have found you through the blog world
