Dinner Partay + Scene It = Good Time
Evening all! We just returned from our friends’ house, and this post is going to be quick because I’m beat…and I have an early appointment tomorrow to get my haircut! As of right now, I’m still up in the air about what I’m going to do—and I’m either going to keep it long, or get A LOT chopped off, so it could be a potentially exciting trip to the salon!!! I’m just going to see what I feel like tomorrow. It’s just hair, right? It will always grow back. Ah, I’ll probably wimp out anyway and just get a trim
Tonight, we headed over to our friends Ellie and James’ house for a little dinner party, plus some Scene It action. Ellie was so sweet, and baked up some tofu just for me. It was delicious! She actually baked it, and then crusted it with panko breadcrumbs and seared it in a hot skillet. She’s a really great cook—and I should know! I lived with her for all four years of college!
Check it out:
The meal was actually really healthy. Ellie said that she guessed (quite accurately) that we would all be sick at this point of heavy holiday food, so she cooked up a delicious (and nutritious!) feast of salmon, spicy Asian green beans, and steamed veggies.

I didn’t taste the salmon (obviously), but it looked amazing. This recipe is actually one that we got as part of a wedding gift this summer!
Before we start looking like a bunch of hippie health nuts, let me explain what we had for dessert: Better Than Sex Cake. My friend Ellen brought this cake, courtesy of Paula Deen. Better than sex? Let’s just say it didn’t disappoint. The recipe is on the food network if you’re interested
Here’s a better shot of Mr. Wilson, Ellie and James’ new puppy who I got to meet the other night at girls night. Isn’t he just the cutest?
We brought Baxter so that he and Mr. Wilson could get acquainted with one another:
Mr. Wilson passed out early, but Baxter stayed up with the adults for the Scene It game. My friend Ellen fell in love with my camera, and proceeded to use Baxter as her muse:
Turns out he couldn’t really hang with the adults either! What a sleepy head! Reminds me of being little and being at an “adult function” with my parents and just wanting to go home to bed!!!
The Scene It game quickly dissolved into a “lightning round” version with the tie-breaker questions. I’m not sure we were following the rules, but it sure was fun. In the end, all teams did quite well…we’re leaving it open for a rematch in the near future
Hope you had a great night! Can you believe tomorrow is New Year’s Eve? I’m going to reveal some big news about my plans for 2010 tomorrow, so stay tuned! It’s nothing major, but it’s something I’m pretty excited about! Have a great second-to-last night of 2009!
Night, y’all!

what a FUN night!! love that dinner-bet the salmon was AWESOME!cant wait to hear about your plans!!
That salmon looks incredible! I say go for it on the haircut! Hair will always do what hair does best- grow!
Looks like you are enjoying your week. What a cute little puppy. I also saw you went to Marshalls earlier, I love it there and TJMAX. Glad you found some cute shoes. It seems all the stores are already gearing up for spring. They already moved the sweaters closer to the back at the LOFT here and have more spring looking items up front. That dinner looked great.
Baxter and Mr. Wilson are so cute together!
I am worried if I can stay awake tonight until midnight! Ha! I better try
Ugh, I am sooo sick of holiday fare myself. Those green beans looks so yummy. I love good, fresh green beans! I also say go for the full cut! It’s amazing what chopping your hair off can do for your attitude – SASSY!
So, was it BETTER than sex? IF so, count me in! I want a piece!
The meal looks delicious, and I’m glad you had a nice night. What a great end to 2009, right?!
Happy New year!
