Ready for a Rub-Down
Hello! I hope your day has been going well!
I almost talked myself out of exercising this morning, because I thought I might be pushing it, going for a run so soon after the half-marathon. But then I thought, Get Smart!
I decided to go out and test the waters…if I ended up being too sore to run, I could always turn around and head home. The result?
An easy, enjoyable 5 miles! No pain at all!
I told Ryan, I’m glad that I’m not sore…BUT, it does make me wonder if I should have pushed it harder at the race. Oh well…it gives me something to shoot for next time around!
After returning from my run, I munched on this:
And then…disaster hit! We got a call from the groomer where my parents’ dogs were being groomed saying that Sugar, their labradoodle, had escaped and was running loose in a local park!!! Neither of my parents were here, so we said we would be over ASAP…and then we realized that we had a car, but no keys! We finally got in touch with my sister, who came over and picked us up…just as we arrived at the park where the dog was supposed to be, the groomer called and said that she and her husband were able to catch Sugar and bring her back home. Geez! Wild morning!
After that adventure, we came home and made some lunch. I kept mine pretty light, because I’m getting a massage (my post-race treat!) at 2:00, and don’t want to be too full.
Apples, almond butter, Kashi crackers, mystery cheese (it was GOOD!), and carrots:
And Ryan’s lunch was veg too! He said, “You’re definitely going to want to get a picture of this for the blog.” What a goofball
So here ya go:
I’m thinking that I might hit up Counter Culture, a local frozen yogurt place after my massage. They have THE BEST frozen yogurt– it’s essentially just like pinkberry (tart, plain, and delicious), except they’ve been in business since 1977! You can check out their website here.
I hope my massage is a good one. I’ve had some GREAT massages, and some not so great ones…at my sister’s bachelorette weekend, we all got massages, and the woman I got massaged MY ARMPIT for like, twenty minutes straight. Not too fun. And kind of awkward, too.
I’ll see you for dinner– we’re kind of in charge tonight, but we haven’t decided on what to make…who knows!

How crazy. I just got MY massage at 2 pm as a post race treat! It was amazzzing. how was yours?
I am from Rhode Island so the winters here are much more mild. To me it is still fairly warm out and doesn’t even feel like holiday weather.
Man…mine wasn’t all that great
She asked if there was anything that she needed to know, and I told her that I had just run a half-marathon, so my legs would probably be tight. I meant that I wanted her to work on them, but I think she thought that I meant that they might be too sore or something, so she barely even touched them!!
I have pretty high standards for massages, because I hardly ever get them, so when I do, I want them to be REALLY good, you know? This one wasn’t bad, it was just kind of…meh.
But I’m glad yours was good!
Re: weather– Yeah, we’ve been shocked at how warm it’s been! I mean, it’s GREAT, but that was not what we expected November in PA would be like…whatever, I’m not complaining
