I Think That I Shall Never See…
…a poem lovely as a tree. ♥
And I’m a poet, so that’s saying something!
We’ve had a great day so far. Ryan, my parents and I walked over to Centenary, Shreveport’s liberal arts college. Centenary’s campus is small, but very pretty. Lots of green hills, trees, and ivy-covered red brick buildings.
In 1985, a biology professor planted a bunch of trees that are native to Louisiana, so we went to check out all the different specimen. I never even knew this existed– funny that it’s only a few miles from our house!

Centenary has such a pretty campus:
It’s our secret dream that one day a job will open up there in the English department and we’ll be able to move home. Sigh.
After exploring the campus a little, we walked to a restaurant for some lunch al fresco. Columbia Cafe is a cute little restaurant only a few miles from our house. I hadn’t been there in a while, and I was a little disappointed to see that the vegetarian choices were pretty limited. Still, I found a good pick: cream cheese and vegetable sandwich on home-baked wheatberry bread. Yum!
I also had a bite of Ryan’s 4 cheese mac ‘n cheese, which was awesome:
We’re about to go to the grocery store. We’re going over to my sister’s house tonight for dinner, and we’ve volunteered to bring dessert: Gingered Pear Crisp (from a 2004 issue of Cooking Light, ha!). Pictures will follow later tonight.
I hope your afternoon has been sunny just like mine! ☀

Happy Sunday. Are you sore from the run? I’m really enjoying reading your blog and your photo additions add alot. I am trying to feel the sunshine and warmth of Shreveport. The only sunshine I am feeling today is in my soul from feeling thankful and blessed in my life. The outside is quite stormy and cold!
Aw, I’m sorry that y’all are having stormy and cold weather, Patti. I’m glad that you’re enjoying the blog though! You’ll be featured on it, come December, so get ready!!
Oh, and I’m not too sore at all, actually. A little sore going down stairs, but that’s about it. In fact, there’s a Turkey Trot 5k on Thursday morning, and we’re thinking about running that before the big meal!
